FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What does physiotherapy cost ?
What
can I do for my FOOT PAIN?
- The first thing is to seek a diagnosis as to
WHAT is causing your pain.. Often, one of the
major problems is Ill-fitting and non-supportive
footwear (i.e.. too tight, too narrow, too small,
poor arch support). High heels may also lead to
"metatarsalgia" or "morton's neuroma",
which causes pain in the base of the toes. Ill
fitting and high heeled shoes are also considered
aggravating factors for the very common condition
of "bunions".
Individuals with "pes planus" (or flat,
unstable arches), may also experience conditions
such as "plantar fasciitis", "achilles
tendinitis" and pain in the big toe (stemming
from metatarsalgia in that 1st joint).
After your foot pain has been assessed, there
are many sources of relief usually available to
you. Besides seeing a physiotherapist for this
diagnosis, modalities can often be used for immediate
pain relief ... and education be offered for
ongoing treatment and prevention.
CUSTOM, prescription ORTHOTICS often bring dramatic
relief to most types of foot pain. As well as
the effective arch support that is the basis of
the device, orthotics can also be made with incorporated
metatarsal pads, heel cushion pads and extra support
for heavy or extremely active individuals.
